Queesnwood School Lord Stamp opens boarding houseFormer governor and parent, Trevor Stamp, 4thBaron Stamp of Shortlands, has officially opened the newly refurbished ‘Stamp House’ at Queenswood near Hatfield, Hertfordshire, nearly 80 years after his grandfather and grandmother, Sir Josiah Stamp and Lady Stamp opened the original building. Stamp House is a large, detached building which is connected to the Chapel by the Cloisters and has been completed to a very high standard of specification, internally and externally, as integrated accommodation for both Year 7 and 8 boarders and day girls.
Lord Stamp was accompanied by his family and said he was delighted to have been asked to unveil the commemorative plaque and pronounce the new Stamp House officially open, especially as it was his birthday. More than 100 parents and guests joined the governors and staff to tour the wonderful facilities, guided by the Year 7 and 8 girls who are delighted by their luxurious new surroundings. Stamp House now provides contemporary accommodation, social and study areas over three floors for the girls and residential pastoral staff within a large enclosed garden.
Also joining the residents of Stamp is ‘Maisie’, the Springer Spaniel puppy, belonging to Miss Sharon Hardie, Housemistress of Stamp House and Head of Lower School Boarding, and who is getting plenty of attention from, and walks with, the girls!
