On Friday 15th January, Northbourne Park School children enjoyed fundraising for their partnership school St Paul Kaaso, Uganda by running a giant marathon relay.Northbourne_Park_Nopakaaso5

The aim of this fundraiser was to run a giant marathon relay around the school’s sports field running as many laps as possible, and to get into the spirit, all pupils came to school dressed in the Ugandan flag colours.

This partnership was established in 2014 and in May 2015 two of our teachers visited St. Paul Kaaso in Uganda to strengthen the link between the two schools.
The money raised from this marathon will go towards investing in an educational and cultural partnership that will benefit both schools. This will give both schools the opportunity to exchange ideas and to share best teaching practice.

Two teachers from St. Paul, KAASO will be visiting us for a week in June this year.

Headmaster, Sebastian Rees says: “This is an exciting project for both schools. It is giving the children at Northbourne Park School invaluable experience of life in a school in Uganda and the opportunity to make a real difference.”

Education is a privilege in Uganda, not a right. The children sometimes have English lessons until 9pm.
