Northbourne Park School Intermediate Camp May 2015In April and May this year, over 70 Senior and Intermediate pupils from Northbourne Park School enjoyed two special overnight leadership camps with the emphasis this year based around team building and communication.

The children had great fun completing one of six challenges they were set – building their own survival shelters and then sleeping in them overnight.   Other challenges included making and lighting camp fires and cooking their evening meals and hearty breakfasts.

In order to complete all the challenges, the children worked in small teams displaying excellent leadership and team building skills that they had been learning in their regular leadership lessons programme.

Northbourne Park’s Director of Outdoor Education and Forest School Practitioner, Priscilla Smith said:  “Northbourne Park’s 100 acres of private parkland and woods provides the perfect environment in which to bring learning to life.  Here we ensure that every child is able to learn, explore and experience the great outdoors.  Daily visits to the Leadership Village instil a lifelong affinity with nature.”
