Northbourne Park pupils have once again excelled in the 2013 Thanet Festival of Speech and Drama, winning 1st and Northbourne Park2nd places in a total of eight categories.

Two pupils, Camille Olcott and Marie-Louise Boisnier won the Chidwick Cup for the best duologue with a gripping performance from Lillian Hellman’s The Children’s Hour which the adjudicator rated as the ‘best performance she had ever seen.’

Each year, the festival brings together young people from the Thanet area, allowing them to compete in various competitions and to develop a love of drama and the spoken word.

Beth Greenlaw drama tutor at Northbourne Park said, “All of the students performed wonderfully. The competition was particularly tough this year and they were up against some much older children, so the results are particularly pleasing.”

Northbourne Park pupils also came first in the Prose Reading, Public speaking, Solo Acting, Solo Mime, Poetry Speaking and earned second place in the younger years Poetry Speaking competition.
