Northbourne Park Roubaix French ExchangeYear 6 pupils from Northbourne Park School enjoyed an educational French exchange visit to Roubaix, near Lille last week. French pupils from the College Jeanne d’Arc had faced fierce competition to be selected as one of the exchange partners for the Northbourne Park pupils and proved themselves to be excellent hosts. The Northbourne Park pupils enjoyed staying with French families, sampling local foods, visiting the beautiful city of Lille and joining in with life in a French School.

“The best bit was the big bowl of hot chocolate every morning” said Abigail. “I felt like a celebrity – all the French pupils wanted to chat to us!” said Jack.

The pupils were treated to a special ceremony at Roubaix Town Hall to celebrate this 10th Anniversary Year of the exchange programme, receiving gifts from the Mayor in recognition of the long-lasting friendship between the two schools. Northbourne park School is looking forward to welcoming the pupils from Jeanne d’Arc back to Kent at the end of April. “We were looked after so well in France – we can’t wait to have our penfriends back here!” agreed all the children involved.
