Oakham School’s 1st XI are celebrating after winning the prestigious BOWS festival for the first time.

Oakham School victorious cricket 1st XIThe festival includes Oakham, Brighton College, Wellington College and Sedbergh: four schools with a strong cricketing heritage.

The win is a great end to the season for the school’s flagship team under their new Director of Cricket, John Crawley.

Oakham was also awarded the prestigious player of the tournament award, 6th Former Jack Crace taking the title.

“Winning the festival is a great achievement for the boys,” says Director of Cricket, John Crawley.

The quality of cricket was superb throughout and it was a pleasure to be involved. It was also a fitting tribute to see the leavers (Henry Foster, Ollie Elson, Charles Hurley, Michael Stark and Ben Lewis) on their way and it was well-deserved reward for all the hard work put in by the boys throughout the year. Henry Foster captained the side superbly and led them excellently both on and off the field. The boys really have been an absolute pleasure to coach and to guide.”
