Some of the Oliver CastSt. Francis’ College staged the famous musical ‘Oliver’ by Lionel Bart, on 25th and 26th November in the College Theatre.  It was a fabulous show with well-known toe-tapping numbers, such as, ‘Pick a Pocket or two’ and ‘I’d do Anything.’  The audience of parents and friends of the school were certainly “begging for more” by the end of the show! The production is the highlight of the Senior School’s Drama Department year and involved girls from Years 7 – 13.   All of the girls have worked incredibly hard and have loved working on Dicken’s story ‘Oliver Twist’ and studying Victorian Melodrama in their Drama lessons.

“When I was told I wIMG_6220as Oliver, I was ecstatic! Whilst rehearsing the play I have become closer to girls in other year groups and have loved working with everyone in the cast.  It’s like a dream come true being the lead in a school play.” Delyth Wynne

The production also involved the Music Department as Senior School girls provided the musical accompaniment for the show.

Mrs Charlotte McDermott, Head of Drama commented “It’s a wonderful opportunity for girls from all years to come together and work as a team, whether it be as an actor, part of the back stage crew, dancer or musician.  It was a weekend to remember, and a memorable experience for the girls to treasure.”
