Oswestry School, as ever, had sweeping success at the Oswestry Music Festival this year.

Year 8 pupil, Myles Wilkinson, was one of the outstanding pupils in this years’ competition coming away as the overall winner of the ’12 and under’ category and being named Young Performer of the Year.

He has now been invited to perform as a guest artist at a concert given by The Scholars and Gentlemen where he will join the older choir members for the demanding role of ‘high treble’ in Allegri’s Miserere, voted one of classical music’s most popular pieces ever.

During the 12 minute performance, Myles will have to hit ‘Top C’ no less than five times in the composition of 1638. The piece was thought to be so special that the Vatican kept the music to itself for 150 years.
