Oswestry School’s U18 netball team have won the Plate Competition at the County tournament.

Conditions for the tournament, held at Wrekin College last week, were wet and windy but this did not affect the team’s performance. The first match was against Adams Grammar School, where the team won 4-3 with a last-minute goal from Hannah P. The next game against William Brook saw them win 8-2, thanks to impressive interceptions from Anna H and Beth W. Shortly after, they played Idsall School and won 11-5, followed by a 6-4 victory against The Marches.

A tight game against Newport Grammar School saw Oswestry lose, but the side bounced back in the final game with a 6-1 win against Concord College. The victory took them to the top of the table, winning the overall Plate competition.

Well done to Hannah Pritchard, Dee Edwards and Emma Lincoln for their consistent shooting, Axana Boydon, Phoebe Munford and Darcie Connacher for their smooth and quick transitions down court, and Anna Holbrook and Beth Williams for their strong defence.
