Oswestry pupilsPupils at Oswestry School are celebrating another set of impressive A-level results this year. They coped magnificently with the new style A-levels with one quarter of all papers taken awarded A or A* grades and one half of all papers A*-B grades, with an overall pass-rate of 98%.
Hayley Martin from Newtown secured 2A*s and an A in biology, chemistry and mathematics; she has gained a place to study biomedical sciences at York University. Dominic Fisher, from Oswestry, achieved excellent grades and will go on to read International Relations at Exeter University, having secured AAA in design, economics and history. Head Boy, Luc Jarzynski, secured grades of BBB to win his place to read Chemistry at Liverpool. Evelyn Ma, from China, achieved 4 A-levels with grades of A*AAB, and has earned her place to read International Hospitality and Tourism Management at Surrey University. Julian Noad, Headmaster, commented “This is a very pleasing set of results, particularly given our non-selective intake and the increased challenge of reformed A-levels. To maintain our excellent pass rates in this climate is a magnificent indictment of the hard work of both our pupils and our staff. They also engage in such a full and successful co-curriculum, developing leadership and other wider skills, ensuring that they really do leave Oswestry School having learned ‘for life’. I wish
them all every future success and happiness”.
