Oswestry School pupils have superbly met the challenge of the new GCSE, with an impressive 80% of papers awarded A*-C or 9-4.

And yet more pleasing is the number of high achieving pupils. Notable individual performances included: Meredith Bryson, Jennifer Cyffin-Jones, Kit Chan and Amelie Schneider. Across the 56-strong year group there were many more stories of individual success.

Julian Noad, Headmaster of Oswestry School said: ‘The unsettling background to this year’s results make them all the more pleasing to read. As ever, pupils have worked incredibly hard and one can only admire the commitment and determination of those young people who manage to achieve high grades across such a broad range of disciplines. Examination results at Oswestry School are well above the national average and impressive for a genuinely non-selective school.

I am delighted to say that the vast majority of our students will be joining our Sixth Form which, as with the School overall, continues to grow in size and reputation. A-Level results were outstanding this year and serve to underline the overall excellence here at Oswestry School.’
