Oswestry School Sixth Form pupils, Jessica Pugh and Benjamin Dugan, are now fully qualified ski instructors after completing their BASI Level 1 and Level 2 training through the Interski scholarship award.

Each winter, Interski instructors are on the lookout for talented youngsters. Their brief is to assess performance, personality and adaptability and, where these criteria are met, a video is taken and submitted.  Approximately 30 of these, mostly 16-18 year olds, are then invited to a day’s intensive training in the UK where they are assessed, and a final shortlist of 10 gifted scholars is drawn up.

This year, two Oswestry School pupils, Jessica Pugh and Benjamin Dugan were selected for the scholarship – out of 1500 applicants – which provides 3 weeks intensive training in Aosta, Italy covering all costs.

The Interski representative said that the pupils “Represented their school impeccably and should be justifiably proud of their achievements.  It was a really strong bunch of candidates this year.”
