Oundle Success in Anglian Trophy Fixture

On Saturday 4th February, three Oundle pupils returned to Abington Park, Northampton, where they had run for the county on 21st January and were selected for the next round.

20170209 Anglia Trophy County Competition in X Country 002The Anglian Trophy is a very competitive event and Archie Parkinson (13), Eleanor Macintosh (15) and Dylan Page (16) all performed strongly, each earning a place in the Northamptonshire Schools team which will travel to Norwich on 18th March for the All England Cross Country Championships.

Archie, as a younger competitor within his category last year, did amazingly well coming in 23rd out of 337 runners.

Head of Girls’ Games, Leti Brighton commented, “We are looking forward to seeing them all compete at the Norfolk County Showground and wish them the best of luck.“

In the local league the School teams are performing well. The boys are finding their feet with both Archie and Dylan having missed a couple of races due to county rounds, and the girls’ team have come 3rd, 2nd and 3rd in recent meets at Rugby, Wellingbourgh and Welbeck.

On 25th February, Oundle will be hosting teams from Sedbergh, Shrewsbury and Giggleswick who will join local competitors for the MANISCCC (Midlands and Northern Independent School Cross Country Championship) event.
