As part of Oswestry School’s wellbeing programme, pupils and parents had an opportunity to hear from the author, and campaigner for mental health, Hope Virgo.

Throughout a school day dedicated to mental wellness, pupils learned about Hope’s struggles with anorexia and now, in recovery, what she is doing to try and break the stigma of mental illness.

In an online talk, just for parents, Hope spoke in depth about her illness and gave parents valuable advice on how to spot tell-tale signs and how they can help young people who are struggling.

Hope will be meeting with Government officials next week to ask for their support for her campaign #dumpthescales, where she will be requesting that people with eating disorders are supported in a more meaningful way.
