Loretto School LennoxLove Book Festival BandThe Loretto School Pipe Band and Highland Dancers will kick off the Lennoxlove Book Festival on Friday, 2nd November at 5:00 p.m. in the forecourt of Lennoxlove house.

The 4th Lennoxlove Book Festival is undoubtedly the best yet. As the pipes and drums of Loretto School skirl into the night air, the festival begins with another fanfare – Michael Morpurgo and J.K. Rowling.
There then follows a procession of wonderful writers, entertainers and thinkers: Alexander McCall Smith, Prue Leith, John Sessions, Penny Junor, Neil Oliver, former Loretto pupil Alistair Darling, Roger McGough and Richard Wilson.

The Loretto School Pipe Band is in great demand, having supported Sir Paul McCartney on two occasions recently. Other regular annual events are th Beating Retreat at Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, playing to tens of thousands of runners at the Edinburgh Marathon, and performing at Lord's Cricket Ground during the test match. The Loretto pipe band also played alongside other school bands when Pope Benedict XVI travelled along the Royal Mile in his Popemobile in September 2010!

Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto School commented, “Just as this year’s Lennoxlove Book Festival is billed as the best yet, the Loretto Pipe Band and Highland Dance Troupe are one of the finest in the UK. We are delighted to be ask to perform at this prestigious event and the pupils are most excited and raring to go!”
