There is much to celebrate at Plymouth College this morning with 25% of pupils gaining at least seven A* or A grades at GCSE.

Seven have clinched at least ten top grades, including Hettie Burrows, Phoebe Hirst and Nada Khalil who have all walked away with 10 A*s and 1 A each.

Jake Lunn (Pictured right) has claimed 10A*s while top swimmer, Grace Vertigans, has added 8 A*s and 2 As to the two medals she won for Great Britain at the European Junior Swimming Championships last month.

The Plymouth College A*/A pass rate is up an impressive five percentage points to 41% while the A* to C pass rate of 87% continues to be well above the national average.

“Many congratulations to all our GCSE students who have received their results this morning”, said Plymouth College Headmaster, Dr Simon Wormleighton. “I am delighted to see such an improvement in the number of top grades achieved, which is a real testament to the hard work of both pupils and teachers.

“It is also very rewarding to see the effectiveness of our elite athlete programme, which strives to see sports scholars perform as well in the classroom as they do in the sports arena.”
