Plymouth College students win British Triathlon Championships

Plymouth college british triathalonKerenza Bryson and Myles Pillage, both aged 14, have been crowned Youth C Girls and Youth C Boys British Triathlon Champions respectively.

Held in Soilhul, they both beat the top multi-eventers in the country to take the titles in the run, swim, shoot event. Winning the shoot and the swim, Myles scored 3630 points while Kerenza, who is also the reigning British Tetrathlon Champion and the British Pentathlon Champion, won by more than 100 points with a score of 3330.

Myles, his brother Alex and James Murphy took the Youth C Boys’ Team title with 10212 point, more than 400 points ahead of the second-placed team and an event record. Keeping it in the family, Kelcey Pillage, 17, was second in the Youth A Girls event.

As well, Kerenza, Myles and James have been picked for the Talent ID Programme as a result of their performances. This will see them attend a number of training weekends from which they hope to be selected to compete for Great Britain.

“This is a fantastic set of results”, said Plymouth College Director of Modern Pentathlon and Fencing. “I am particularly proud of the boys’ team score which is the highest ever in the history of the competition and breaks the previous record by 500 points. It was great to see Kerenza and Myles top the podiums and rounds off a particularly good year for the Plymouth College Modern Pentathlon and Fencing Academy, which has claimed 13 national titles.”
