Plymouth College – Tom takes World Series title with gold in Mexico

Plymouth College Pupil and famous diver Tom DaleyPlymouth College pupil and star diver, Tom Daley, has clinched the gold medal and series title in the final leg of the Diving World Series in Mexico. Tom, 17, previously secured silver medals in the first three stages of the competition in Dubai, Beijing and Moscow.

A personal best performance including a 10 for his final dive saw Tom accrue an impressive 562.85 points, beating American, David Boudia into second place on 543.25 points. Sascha Klein of Germany took bronze with 525.90 points.

The day before winning gold in the individual event, Tom and his synchro partner, Peter Waterfield, produced their best score of the series to win a bronze medal. The pair notched up a respectable 446.88 points, beating the total that earned them silver in the Beijing leg. Although the USA and Mexico took gold and silver on this occasion, the bronze was enough for the British duo to win the overall World Series.
