Plymouth College medal winnersTwo fencing teams from Plymouth College have taken gold and silver in the U13 British Schools Fencing Championships.
Held at Brunel University, Year 8 pupils Tia Simms Lymn, Kerenza Bryson and Chloe Campbell-Hamilton took the top spot, narrowly beating the school’s Year 7 team Alice Simmonds, Catherine Bishop and Annie Crocker. Both teams had notable victories on the way to the final including Packwood Haugh, Lycée Français, Gosforth and Francis Holland.
“I couldn’t have hoped for a better result”, said Plymouth College Director of Modern Pentathlon, Andy Hill. “The girls were up against some of the best fencers in the country so to be the top two teams is outstanding. The Year 7 girls will still be eligible to compete next year when they can hopefully retain the champion’s crown for Plymouth College.”
