Plymouth take Bronze in National Competition

Plymouth_fencing_European_BronzeThe Plymouth College girls’ fencing team have taken third place in the European Cadets Epée tournament in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Kerenza Bryson, Tia Simms-Lymn and May Yuen were competing against the top young fencers from 25 nations including Austria, Belarus, Croatia, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and USA.  In the individual competition, Tia claimed the best result coming twelfth out of 175 fencers.

On the same weekend in Dublin, Paddy Erskine and Kerrie Johnson both took silver in the Youth B Irish Pentathlon Championships in Dublin.  In the boys’ event Paddy won the fencing and combined run/shoot, while in the girls’ competition Kerrie won the fencing.  Meanwhile in Peterborough, Benjamin Andrews came third in the U13 National Elite Epée competition.
