Plymouth College is the top swimming school in the country for the seventh year running, after winning six out of twelve titles in the English Schools’ Swimming Association Relays. The national event, held at Crystal Palace, saw some of the top young swimmers in England compete.
The school took the top spot in the junior girls’ freestyle, junior girls’ medley, intermediate boys’ freestyle, intermediate girls’ medley, senior girls’ freestyle and senior girls’ medley. Three new records were set in the process. Plymouth College took the silver medal position in the other six events.
The school qualified for all twelve of the national finals after dominating the regional event, which featured more than 100 Plymouth College students and saw the school’s A, B and C teams take a number of top 3 positions.
“We are delighted to continue to be the top school for swimming in England,” said teacher in charge of swimming, Clive Hambly. “This is the first time that all our teams have come either first or second in this competition, which is a great achievement.”
