Poet Laureate at Prior’s Field

The Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy CBE, will read a selection from her poetry on Wednesday 9th November 2011, at Prior’s Field.

A limited number of tickets is available at £10 for adults and free for students, including a glass of wine on arrival at 7pm. The reading will commence at 7.30pm and be followed by a book signing at 8.30pm.

Carol Ann Duffy is Professor of Contemporary Poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University. She has written for both adults and children and her poetry has been part of English Literature examination specifications for some years.
This will be the latest in a tradition of annual lectures given at Prior’s Field in memory of its founder, Julia Huxley. Past visitors include Adam Hart-Davis, Michael Palin, Joanna Trollope and Wendy Cope.

Prior’s Field received the top grade, excellent, in all nine areas of its 2011 ISI Inspection Report and is in the top 1% of all schools nationally for value-added achievement at GCSE and A-level.
The next open event will be a Christmas Fair on 26th November 2011.
