Robyn Haggie and Sarah Dover have been accepted onto the prestigious Samling vocal course. They will start workshops in March followed by a performance at The Sage Gateshead later this year.

This residential vocal master class programme attracts young artists from every continent. Many of the young singers – Samling Scholars – go on to carve out impressive international careers for themselves and see the work they did with Samling at that crucial stage in their development as their springboard and inspiration.

The girls will be coached intensively in opera and lieder singing by some of the world's finest artists. They were selected through a rigorous recommendation and audition process.

Chelsea Morison is to be congratulated for participating in the North East Youth Chorale. She was selected through an audition to sing in the choir and on Sunday evening performed “German Requiem” by Brahms and Haydn's “Nelson Mass”.

John Forsyth MBE is the choral director www.neyc.co.uk/ Miss Law says "I am incredibly proud of the girls. They are so talented and it is wonderful that they are embracing opportunities" On Monday it was a pleasure to welcome the Ampleforth Highlanders Pipe and Drum Band.

Pipe Major Bryan Robinson led a fascinating demonstration and performance. Pupils from Year 5 to U6 enjoyed the session! If anyone is interested in having a pipe and drum taster lesson or forming a group please see Miss Law.
