Pupils at St Olave’s Prep School have welcomed the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York to their weekly assembly.
The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor David Horton, and Sheriff of York, Alan Deller, spoke about their roles and gave the pupils an overview of the history of the city before taking questions.

Master of St Olave’s, Andy Falconer, said: “The Lord Mayor and Sheriff are part of York’s proud history, and I’m delighted that our pupils have had the chance to hear first hand about these roles. The pupils asked some very good questions during the visit, and were clearly interested in learning about this part of our city’s heritage. I’d like to thank the Lord Mayor and Sheriff for taking the time to visit us this morning.
St Olave’s is the prep school to St Peter’s School, York, founded in 627AD.
