Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick is celebrating another set of exceptional A Level results, reporting over 18% of entries achieved the highly sought after A* grade (for which candidates must score 90% or more on final papers) against a national average of 7.9% for female entries. 40% of the girls at QM gained at least one A* grade.
Nationally 26.6% of all entries result in an A* or A grade; in Independent schools this average rises to 50%. This year, QM is pleased to report 55% of all entries achieved A* or A grades rising well above the national and Independent school averages.
Overall, 81% of candidates were awarded A*, A or B, with a 100% pass rate.
These excellent results mean that QM leavers will take up highly competitive places in Higher Education this autumn or after a GAP Year. Destinations will include the Universities of Oxford, Durham, Edinburgh, Bristol, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sussex, Exeter, Nottingham and Glasgow.
The girls’ chosen subjects are as diverse as they are: ranging from Mechanical Engineering to Fashion Communication, Veterinary Science to Fine Art, Land Management to Italian, the girls leaving QM are well prepared to confidently begin their studies in Higher Education.
