As with A-Levels on Tuesday, the School is delighted with another 100% pass rate at GCSE. 97% of girls secured the all-important five or more results at grades 9-4, giving them a perfect springboard for the future.

QM Head, Sue Baillie, said; “Tuesday’s A-Level results were quite rightly a cause for celebration for our Upper Sixth cohort and today is just the same for our Year 11 girls. They have studied for their GCSEs during two exceptionally unusual years but can face the future with confidence having achieved fantastic results which reflect their resilience and talent”.

Today’s results span 26 different subjects; one-third of all results were the highly sought-after grade 9. Meanwhile, 94% of girls achieved or exceeded their target grades, which is a testament to the tailored support and encouragement girls receive in a smaller school like QM. They are results of which everyone in the QM community can feel proud. Megan was delighted to get a superb set of results and told us “I received an incredible amount of support from the QM staff, my friends and my parents in a very challenging time. There are so many people who made my experience of taking GCSEs in a global pandemic the best it could be, they reassured me that I was working hard and gave me brilliant advice.”

Results in practical subjects such as Drama, Sport, Music and Food Technology, which could quite easily have suffered during the lockdown, have been outstanding and QM attributes this to finding innovative methods of teaching and keeping students engaged via its remote learning platform – QM Connect – during lockdown.

The QM GCSE girls can now look forward to an enriching two years in the School’s Sixth Form, where they will have the choice of 29 A Level subjects, can enjoy independent living in preparation for university and will be able to get stuck into extra-curricular activities such as Leiths Cookery Course, the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award.
