Queen Margaret’s A Level Results Secure Top University Destinations

Queen Margaret’s School, York is celebrating their best ever A Level results, reporting over 32% of entries achieving the highly sought after A* grade (for which candidates must score 90% or more on final papers), a significant increase on last year. 50% of the girls at QM gained at least one A* grade and 13% gained 3A* or more. This year, QM is pleased to report 66% of all entries achieved A* or A grades rising well above the national and Independent school averages and bucking the trend for 2014. Overall, 85% of candidates were awarded A*, A or B, with a 100% pass rate.

Two of the girls from the Yorkshire school have won a place at an American University. Jodie Miller, has secured a place at the highly prestigious Stern School of Business at New York University. Jodie, who was Head Girl at the all girls’ School, will be majoring in Finance with a Liberal Arts curriculum. Sandra Liang has secured a place at the much respected Rhode Island School of Design. In addition, Emily Scott has also achieved a place at the esteemed Royal College of Music in London. Emily’s principal study will be voice (soprano).

Other university destinations for the pupils include Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Durham, Bristol, Exeter, Liverpool and other top Russell Group Universities.

Queen Margaret’s Acting Head, Mrs Carole Cameron, noted,

“This year our girls have more than met the School standard of aiming high and exceeding their expectations. 2014 has proved to be a record-breaking year, with girls across the spectrum out-performing what was predicted. Congratulations are due to both girls and staff for their excellent achievements. We wish good luck to our girls as they embrace the future.”
