Queen's College was pleased to learn that through the 'School in a Bag' charity scheme, 87 bags have recently Queens College been handed out to the children of Mokgome High School in Soweto, South Africa.

The School in a Bag charity helps poor, orphaned, vulnerable, and disaster-affected children throughout the world and each SchoolBag is filled with stationery equipment and resources that will enable a child to write, draw, colour, calculate, express themselves and above all, learn.

The 87 SchoolBags funded by Queen's College were distributed by the South African Adopt-a-School Foundation in a consignment of 1125 SchoolBags to the children of Mokgome High School, in what has been the biggest single school project carried out by this charity.

For the majority of the orphan SchoolBag beneficiaries, this SchoolBag gift and its contents are the first band new things the children have ever owned and when they were handed out, the joy was evident on the children's faces.

The funds for this project were raised in social enterprise last year and a number of SchoolBags funded by Queen's College were distributed in Sri Lanka as part of an additional earlier project.
