On Wednesday 21st November, Queen’s College pupil Dan Wylie won the Rotary Club of Taunton Vale Queen's College Master ChefMasterchef competition held at Bishop Fox’s School in Taunton.

The Year 11 chef had to prepare and cook a three course meal in two hours. Dan impressed the judges with his highly skilled menu of goat’s cheese, caramelised onions and soda bread to start, a main course of pan-fried sea bass with sweet potato mash and Asian style green vegetables and this was followed by a lemon tart with raspberry coulis.

Dan has been so inspired by his Food Technology lessons that he has chosen to follow a career as a chef. He has recently been awarded a place at Bournemouth College to study on the prestigious Specialist Chef course.

Said Headmaster Chris Alcock: “We are so pleased that Dan has been inspired by his lessons and the teaching at Queen’s College and that he is able to go on to study something he loves. Our school motto is ‘We learn not for school but for life’ and this is a fantastic example of how Dan’s achievements at school will be influencing his future career.”

Dan is now looking forward to the next round of the Masterchef competition in February.
