Queen’s College U16s named Best in the West!

The Queen’s College U16 girls’ hockey team had a fantastic day at the West of England finals, held at Clifton Queen's College hockeyCollege on Sunday.

Despite losing their initial first round match to Canford (1-3), the girls easily won their matches against Dean Close (3-0) and Prior Park (6-0) to reach the semi-final against Millfield.

This match was slightly closer, resulting in a 1-1 draw that was settled by penalty strokes; the Queen’s girls won these 4-3 to go through to the final.

The final against Canford was a fantastic team performance and the Queen’s girls were named West Champions after winning 4-0.

Imogen Allen and Laura Fry captained the team with maturity and the girls all showed lots of fight and determination throughout the tournament.

The U16 team will now go on to represent the West in the national finals in the New Year.

Hockey is a sport that Queen’s College really excels at, thanks to the excellent facilities and the first-rate coaching available at the school.”
