The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain has recently offered Year 13 pupil Jessica Orme-Dawson a place on their Queens Collegecostume course this Summer.

Following interviews with young people from all over the UK, Jessica has been selected by the NYT as one of the most exceptionally talented in her field.

Jessica has already shown creative promise in school, studying for A levels in Textiles and Photography and gaining full marks in her AS exam.

She is currently working on an extended project based on fashion and costume design, as well as helping with the production of costumes for the upcoming Dracula Spectacular musical at Queen’s College.

Her dream is to gain a place at Central St Martin’s, one of the most prestigious art universities in Europe, to study textiles or costume design before going on to work in the costume department for the National Theatre in London or design costumes for West End shows.

The residential Summer course with the National Youth Theatre will set her on the right path, giving her the opportunity to learn from professional designers and experience the behind-the-scenes buzz of the costume department.

Jessica is currently trying to raise £900 to cover the cost of her course and accommodation – if you would like to contribute to her fund, please click here.
