Queen’s College Swimmers

Queen’s College swimmers concluded another outstanding season with some excellent performances and new records set at the prestigious Meade King Cup, one of the oldest swimming competitions in the country, featuring Queen’s, King’s College, Taunton School and Wellington School.

The Queen’s team got off to a fine start with a win for Jess Brown in the first event and others soon followed in a tightly-fought contest.  Queen’s Boys secured victory for the fifth time in the last six years and the girls were beaten into second place by a solitary point.

There were also some exceptional individual performances and new Cup Records set by Rebecca Wilde in the Girls’ Under 16 freestyle and butterfly, and Jacob Greenow in the Boys’ Under 16 backstroke.  The success of the relay team also reflected the overall depth of the squad.

Said Queen’s College Headmaster, Chris Alcock:  “Without exception, every Queen’s swimmer gave their all and swam with great spirit, courage and determination and thoroughly deserved the success they have worked so hard for.”
