Rossall School Girls take the Lancashire Basketball tital!

In the semi-final against Blackpool Sixth Form Rossall were strong and by half time were 27-6 up. The opposition Rossall School Lancashire basketballdidn’t recover and Rossall won 48-12.

Paula Lopez was the top scorer with 21 points ably supported by Captain Jodie Finn with some excellent shooting and 17 points.

In the final Rossall played St Marys, Blackpool. Rossall struggled against tough opposition and were down 15-11 at the end of the first quarter.

A quick pep talk at the end of the first quarter resulted in an acceleration of the Rossall score to 14 points against only 3 from the opposition in this quarter.

In the 3rd quarter St Marys were tiring and the Rossall defended well.

Josie Guthrie, Elena Vignotti and Lisa Marie Wurzer were particularly strong.

The last quarter began with Rossall defending a 12 point lead and the team playing excellent teamwork in defence and making quick breaks.

Paula Lopez left the court with 4 minutes remaining but the bench were strong enough to see the game out without too many problems.

Paula Lopez top scored again with 20 points and again assisted by Jodie Finn with 11 points. Rossall have been crowned Lancashire Girls U19 Champions and Paula Lopez was voted MVP by the two referees.
