Royal_Hospital_Handel's_messiahThe Royal Hospital School Chapel Choir, Holbrook Choral Society and Orchestra gave a stunning performance of Handel’s Messiah to a full-capacity Chapel on Saturday 7 December.

The Messiah was originally premiered in Dublin in 1742 and combines Old and New testament texts concerning prophecies of a Messiah. It is one of the most loved of all musical compositions and has become an integral part of the build up to Christmas.

The concert, conducted by William Saunders, Director of Music, also featured distinguished soloists Teresa Pells (soprano), Madeleine Shaw (alto), Richard Edgar-Wilson (tenor) and Alex Baker (bass).

The Headmaster, James Lockwood, who attended the concert with his wife, Sarah, and guests, said “we were treated to a truly amazing recital of Handel’s Messiah. Certainly the best concert I have attended in a school setting. This was a hugely ambitious undertaking and I thank Mr Saunders and all those involved for a memorable evening”.
