Llandovery College is celebrating one of the most successful chapters in its long history of rugby glory.College old boys George North and Alun Wyn Jones were both members of the recent victorious British Lions team against Australia while Jack Jones and Josh Davies both played against England in the final of the U20s World Cup. Just two weeks ago Emyr Phillips and Rhodri Jones both played for Wales against Japan.

These six successes come hot on the heels of another former pupil Carys Phillips’s recent cap for Wales Ladies.

Current pupil Dan Brooks was recently capped for Wales U18 and both Jack Evans and Harry Randall of years 11 and 10 respectively were capped for Wales at U16.

Llandovery College also has current pupils Owen Howe, James Phillips, Lee Taylor, Ollie Smyth and Chris Williams who have all been drafted in to the Welsh Development Seven.

Head of Rugby at Llandovery College, Iestyn Thomas, said: “The talent at elite level from U16s up to the British Lions shows the strength of rugby at Llandovery College which combined with the performances of our current school teams from the 1st XV down to U13s shows that the production line is well stocked.”

Llandovery College is one of Wales’s oldest and well-respected independent day and boarding schools. Its rugby tradition dates back to 1847 when the school opened in the heart of the Towy Valley.
