Rydal Penrhos’ head of sixth form has finished a 50km run to raise funds for the renovation of the school’s Ferguson Centre.

Peter Lavery completed the challenge on 16 December, running past iconic sites like Canary Wharf, Wembley Stadium and Westminster Abbey.

Lavery said: “I am really pleased with how it went and enjoyed the camaraderie of running in a group of three without the pressure of a race against the clock.

“We slowed down every six miles to take on food, which worked well. 20 miles plus was hard, but getting to marathon distance was a good moment psychologically.”

Messages and donations were received prior to and during the run, with Lavery tweeting and streaming his progress live on Periscope.

“I’m absolutely bowled over by the messages of support and the donations to the Ferguson Centre fund,” added Lavery.
