Rydal Penrhos Pupils Rise To The Maths ChallengeTwenty two Rydal Penrhos pupils have risen to this year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and have come away with either gold, silver or bronze certificates.

Over 81,000 pupils from across the UK took part in the senior challenge which tests the mathematical prowess of the nation’s 16 to 19 year-olds with gold awards going to the top 10%, silver to the top 20% and bronze to the top 30% of those taking the test.

Year 13 pupil, Janie Lee, was the stand out performer and was awarded gold, ‘Best in Year’ and ‘Best in School’ with Year 12, James Sanders, awarded silver and ‘Best in Year’. Other pupils awarded with silver certificates were: Alex Azurza, Cyd Cowley, Luca Bakshi, Hannah Patrick, Florian Schätzler and Robert Warrington, and bronze winners were Reuben Bakshi, Dylan Coombes, Bohdan Dzershko, Tosin Bolarin, Shaswath Ganapathi, Aled Horner, Paco Ko, Brian Li, Ho Wing Ma, John Marston, Chatrin Suksasilp, Valentyna Sydorenko, Matthew Thomas and Nicholas Widdowson.

The school’s latest success bodes well for the Intermediate Maths Challenge for Year 11 and under which take place this week.
