A team of four Year 8 and 9 pupils from Rydal Penrhos School went to Liverpool last week to take part in the Regional Rydal PenrhosFinal of the Mathematics Team Challenge.

The UKMT Team Challenges are designed to promote mathematical dexterity, team-working, and communication skills.

They also give pupils the opportunity to compete against pupils from other schools in their region. Activities include group competition, crossnumber and a mathematical relay race.

After two rounds, the Rydal Penrhos team of Jack Sissons, Amelia Perring, Olivia Williams and Matthew Trumper had a place in the top three.

The third round was very challenging, but they made a good attempt at it. The Rydal Penrhos team finished the competition in a very commendable sixth place out of the 24 schools that took part.
