Rydal Penrhos Volunteers spend afternoon hosting a tea party for the elderlyVolunteers from Rydal Penrhos School spent an afternoon hosting a tea party for elderly residents in Colwyn Bay.

Held once a month for people over the age of 75 to relieve isolation, the Colwyn Bay Tea Party is run by pupils, teachers and parents from Rydal Penrhos School on behalf of Contact the Elderly.

Although the weather put paid to the garden party that had been planned, the pupils from Rydal Penrhos quickly organised an alternative plan and hosted the party in St John’s Church, Colwyn Bay. Plenty of homemade cakes and biscuits were available along with lots of tea and chatting throughout the afternoon.

Teacher and organiser of the tea party Karen Teal said; “It has been great to see the pupils interacting with the elderly. It has given them the chance to understand what it can be like to get old and how they can make a difference once a month for a few hours.”
