Five pupils from Rydal Penrhos took part in a schools’ triathlon organised by Sport Conwy last week. The event was Rydal Penrhosheld at Eirias Park and attracted participants from across the county.

It was a great, well-organised and friendly competition. The Rydal Penrhos team did extremely well, with Daisy Lee-Browne (Yr 7) winning the senior girls’ event, and Amy Bale from the Prep school coming 4th.

In the boys’ event Matthew Harrison (Yr 7) narrowly missed first place after a great swim and run; he finished 2nd. Tom Bale (Yr 7 ) came 3rd and Adam Lee-Browne from the Prep school was 5th.

Many of the Rydal Penrhos pupils have been attending the Thursday evening triathlon club sessions set up and run by Conwy.

The sessions have given the pupils the opportunity to build on their swimming, biking and running skills, and to practise the important art of smooth transitions between the different phases of a triathlon.

They are now looking forward to taking part in the Spillane & Co. Wealth Management Ltd. Conwy Junior Triathlon, which will take place on 30 June at Eirias Park.
