Rydal Penrhos U11 Netball team progress to Urdd national finals

The U11 Rydal Penrhos Prep School netball team put in a fantastic undefeated performance at the Urdd U11 Netball Tournament held at Eirias Park on 13 October.

The team played five games in total, scoring a hugely impressive 67 goals, while only conceding 6!Rydal Penrhos Net ball

The tournament began with Rydal Penrhos Prep School meeting Ysgol Llanddulas; with some great play, the team won 12-0. A fired up team then played Ysgol Glan Morfa, with a final score of 15-0. The final round saw the team play against Ysgol Bro Cernyw, where despite 3 goals being conceded, the team produced a 16-3 victory, landing them in the semi-finals of the competition.

The semi-final saw Rydal Penrhos Prep School meet Ysgol Llandrillo-yn-Rhos where another strong performance saw the team secure a 13-0 win and a place in the final.

Following a quick team talk the team were ready to face the final match against Ysgol Pencae, Penmaenmawr. This promised to be a thrilling game, with both teams striving to win the tournament and to secure a place at the national finals in May 2013. The Prep School side had to work hard to keep up to Ysgol Pencae’s standard, however the team pulled together and showed great co-operation and determination to win the game 11-3.

The Rydal Penrhos Prep U11’s will travel to Aberystwyth in May 2013 to take part in the Urdd National Netball Finals.
