Many Ryde School pupils are celebrating some excellent A Level results this morning. Two thirds of entries were graded as B or above with more than 40% at A* or A, with a 98% pass rate overall.
Gurnard residents Daniella Sauven and Ben Symons received all top A* grades in each of their subjects and will now go on to study Natural Sciences and Physics at Cambridge and Oxford respectively, whilst Sally Lamb, of Binstead, secured three A* grades and so her place to read French and Spanish at University College, London.
A further 12 students secured results that were all graded A* or A and will go on to study a variety of subjects at Britain’s top universities. They include:
Sandy Doran (A*AA) from Wootton Bridge who has won a place at Oxford to read Earth Sciences
Jan Dixon of Cowes (A*A*A) and Katie Norsworthy of Sandown (AAA) who will read medicine at Newcastle and Bristol respectively
Verity Brown (A*AA), Yelena Brown (AAA) and Georgia Green (AAA), all from Ryde, will go on to study Modern Languages at Edinburgh, Bath and Surrey respectively
Madeleine Evans (A*AA) from Shanklin with a place to read History at Exeter
Anne-Marie Flower (A*AA) from Ryde who leaves to read Geology at Imperial College, London
Joe Goodier (A*AA) of Cowes who will study Physics and Astronomy at Durham
Emily Linzmaier (A*AA) and Akshil Patel (A*A*AA) of Sandown with places to read Business and Mathematics respectively, both at Bath.
Also of note is Christo Lolov, from Bulgaria, who won a scholarship to the School and achieved A*A*AA and now leaves to study Computing at Imperial.
Mark Waldron, Headmaster, said, ‘as ever we are delighted to see so many of our pupils achieving excellent results after many months of hard work. Of course today is about celebrating results which remain strong despite the Government toughening things up, but it is also a time to look forward to the next stage of our pupils’ journeys. I am delighted today to know that so many of our pupils are going on to start their careers in an impressive range of subjects. A large number are off to read sciences, medicine or languages, but we also have a very impressive group leaving to equally competitive drama schools and art colleges. We are proud of all our students, their ambition, creativity and hard work.’
