Ryde School Appoints new Head Teacher

The governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Mark Waldron as Headmaster of Ryde School Ryde School New head teacher from September 2013. Mr Waldron is currently  Headmaster of The English College in Prague.

Prior to that appointment he was Deputy Head Academic of Sherborne School, Dorset; a Housemaster and Head of History at The Leys School in Cambridge; Head of History at the Campion School, Athens and an Assistant Master at Radley College, where he taught History, German and General Studies. 

Mr Waldron studied History at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, where he was awarded a first class degree.

He is currently completing an MEd in Educational Leadership. Mr Waldron has been a principal examiner for the Oxford and Cambridge Board in US History and he has written two text books for Harper Collins.

Mr Waldron has taken an active part in school plays and has directed many productions including Guys ‘n’ Dolls and Les Miserables. He has coached a wide range of school activities including debating, cricket and water polo.

We very much look forward to welcoming Mr Waldron to the Ryde School and Island community. 

On being asked about his appointment Mr Waldron said “I am delighted to be joining Ryde School in September 2013. Inspection reports, exam results and university destinations all show that it is a school with the highest standards but most importantly I was struck by the positive, friendly welcome I received on my recent visits. I look forward to working with parents, governors, staff and pupils to build on the School’s many successes and ensure it remains worthy of its position as a leading school in the south of England.”
