Ryde School GCSE Results 2016_2150Ryde School is delighted with the excellent GCSE results secured this year: 100% of our GCSE pupils achieved 5 or more A* to C grades, with 49% of entries awarded A*/A compared to 43% last year. 94% of all entries were awarded a C grade or above whilst 75.8% secured the requirements for the EBacc – our highest figure yet and up from an impressive 65% last year.

Nine Ryde School pupils achieved seven or more grades at A* including Kiran Beckett (10), Rohan Ramdany (11) and Nicholas Yelland (11), James Cripps (7), Lily Giles (9), Alisha Robinson (9) and Daniel Wood (8).

Around one quarter of Ryde School pupils achieved an average score of 10 A grades or better.

Head Master Mark Waldron, commented, ‘I am really pleased with these excellent and well deserved results that parents, staff, pupils but also the Island can be proud of. The top grades are wonderful to see but I am especially pleased that every one of our pupils passed both English Language and Literature at A* to C. I am also pleased to see three quarters getting the English Bacc that shows our pupils are not only doing

well but doing well in the key core subjects of Maths, English, Science, Languages and the Humanities which make such a difference to future prospects. As for the idea that the Isle of Wight is inward looking we have results this year in French, Spanish, German, Russian and Chinese with 48% of our French candidates getting an A* and three boys from the Island; Thomas Beasley, Luke Sauven and Nicholas Yelland, all passing Chinese GCSE, Nicholas with an A*.’
