ryde schoolNew developments are coming to Ryde School Sixth Form for September 2015. New academic choices, new extra-curricular and enrichment programmes, refurbished and independent Sixth Form areas and additional opportunity for Sixth Form boarding will help to ensure all students develop their talents and life skills and optimise their potential.

Students already choose between the International Baccalaureate (IB), with 6 subjects and the more traditional A Level programme of 3, more specialised subjects. From 2015, Ryde School has also applied to run the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP). The IBCP will offer the more practically-minded the combination of 2 or 3 academic subjects with a more vocational course such as Marine Engineering or Outside Education & Sport.
Student choice is constantly being considered: Mandarin and Latin are being extended throughout the school curriculum and a comprehensive programme of careers and life-long learning has been introduced; meaning alongside the wide programme of extra- curricular activities including new competitive sailing, students extend their learning inside and outside the classroom, building confidence and resilience.

A newly refurbished Sixth Form area and associated facilities will allow students to adjust to more independence prior to University or further education. Boarding facilities ensure students can take full advantage of flexi and weekly boarding options, from 2015 in Ryde or at the School’s extensive rural facilities in Bembridge; allowing students to stay overnight in homely individual study bedrooms when parents are off the Island or simply more flexibility is required.
