Students at Ellesmere are planning a 'day of action' to help raise awareness and funds for the Save The Children Ellesmere CollegeCharity.

A sponsored eight mile walk into school, a lottery lunch and an evening concert have all been arranged for Friday 21st June to support such an inspiring charity.

Students were motivated after a talk given by the charities regional fundraising manager Helen Johnson, who presented to the group the plight of children all around the world and the support that is required.

Student representative Ben Hall said "We hope that this will be a productive yet fun day involving the school community and friends.

We are looking to raise money for an incredible cause and all contributions big or small will be gratefully received."

The international charity also has local significance, as it was founded by Eglantine Jebb who lived on the outskirts of Ellesmere.

Corina Jebb said "The Jebb family have been trilled to hear of the involvement of Ellesmere College students in a special fundraising day for Save the Children.

Their enthusiasm and fortitude will help to contribute awareness and funds to the most needy of children all around the world."
