Katie and Lucy have earned places at the trials

Four pupils at Scarborough College have earned U15 England Hockey Performance Centre squad places following successful trials in Doncaster.

Consistent performances over recent months for the College, Clubs and North Yorkshire has seen Beth Hiley (Leeds HC), Isabella Holdsworth (Leeds HC), Lucy Barker and Kate Barker (York HC) demonstrate the high calibre skill base necessary to earn an invite to The Performance Centre trials.

Following Eve Naylor’s (Driffield HC) successful involvement in The Performance Centre programme over the past two years, she has earned a prestigious place into The Diploma of Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme which is delivered between England Hockey and Loughborough College. Eve will now attend four national camps to develop a rich blend of on and off-pitch tactical and technical skills all whilst maintaining the high academic standards she sets in the IB sixth-form program with Scarborough College.

Jack Lucas (Driffield HC) has successfully earned a place on the Team North-East Boys’ squad and will be involved with the team in the upcoming National Boys’ Festival in the coming weeks. Jack has also enjoyed hosting his North-East teammates as they have made use of Scarborough College’s facility over the past few weeks for training and matches ahead of their National Festival campaign.

Mr Cunningham, Director of Sport, said: ‘”These are outstanding achievements and everybody at Scarborough College are very proud of these pupils,. All have of whom have demonstrated dedication over a number of years and are great ambassadors to Scarborough College.”
