Senior girls at Farlington School arrived on Friday 4th February dressed for bed rather than for study! Pyjama Day saw girls sporting a wonderful array of nightwear and slippers, with pyjamas ranging from the traditional striped variety to dalmation-spotted onezies (all-in-one cosy suits). Each girl paid £1 for the privilege in order to raise money for the Wessex Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Southampton General Hospital, to which a fellow student from the Sixth Form was admitted last summer following a riding accident. Having seen first-hand the excellent treatment she received, the school community is now trying to raise as much money as possible to buy equipment for the unit. Their goal is to fund a portable Bipap Machine (£1,500) which enables those with head injuries to breathe without having to be ventilated, or a Syringe Driver (£4,000). A future fund-raising event will be a ‘Gourmet Gamble’ where people can buy a raffle ticket to win a meal or money-off voucher at local restaurants.
