Lake Chapel on the campus of Shebbear College was lit up by the glow from hundreds of candles on the cold evening Sheebear College carolsof Thursday 13th December, creating a perfect Christmas atmosphere for the Candlelit Carol Service.

The congregation, consisting of parents, pupils and staff were in fine voice, especially when backed by the Lower and Senior School Choirs.

The Bidding Prayer and Christmas Message were given by the school’s stand-in Chaplain Tim Aldridge and Bible readings were given by Junior School pupil Connie Gillies, Lower School pupil Nadia Blaskiewicz, teacher Judith Aliberti, Middle School pupil Sam Westlake, Sixth Form pupil Charles Kent and Headmaster Bob Barnes.

During the service the congregation sang traditional carols and were treated to superb vocal performances of ‘Alleluia’ and ‘Christmastide’ by the Senior Choir, ‘Silent Night’ by the Ensemble and ‘Ring the Bells’ by the Lower School Choir. Following the service hot mince pies and mulled wine were well received in the dining hall.
