Junior Year 6 pupils enjoyed an exciting day out at the Adventure Centre at Great Potheridge House near Merton last Shebbear Collegeweek.

They took part in a range of outdoor events in the surrounding woodlands as part of the Forest Schools initiative.

Activities included building shelters, lighting fires and developing teambuilding skills through a variety of physical challenges.

Forest Schools is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment.

The aim is to encourage and inspire individuals through positive outdoor experiences, offering opportunities outdoors for children to develop a range of life skills including independence, self-awareness and social communication skills, all of which help them improve self-esteem and gain confidence in their own abilities.

The children had a wonderful day thanks to the staff at Great Potheridge, including Old Shebbearian, Sam Coward.
